A seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion in Beverly Hills has been listed for $23.8 million.

The house, which went on the market on Feb. 16, had been shopped around as a pocket listing for a few months before hitting the open market, said Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker, one of the listing agents.

The house is owned by an entertainment attorney and his wife. Ms. Mills, who was also the couple’s agent when they bought the property two decades ago, said they tore down the original house and built the current home from the ground up.

The Mediterranean-style house was designed by the late architect Peter Choate, who designed homes for numerous people in the film and television industry, according to Ms. Mills.

At more than 10,000 square feet, the house has a covered patio, a private screening room with a hand-painted ceiling and a gym with a sauna.

It also has distinct architectural features, such as exposed-beam ceilings, double-height ceilings and hardwood floors.

The master suite is one of the highlights of the house, Ms. Mills said. It features a walk-in closet, a large en-suite bathroom and its own fireplace.

The property has landscaped gardens with fruit trees, roses and fountains. At 1.2 acres, the property is larger than most you will find in the area, Ms. Mills said. "This is very, very unusual in the flats of Beverly Hills," she said. "It’s like owning your own park."

The extensive grounds also feature a sports court, an in-ground pool, a separate lap pool and a poolside guest house.

The owners are selling their custom home because they are looking to downsize, Ms. Mills said.

"They’ve had an amazing life there with their five children," Ms. Mills said. "They are very happily moving on and want to pass this on to someone who will appreciate it and love it the way they have."
