Some in Real Estate Industry Optimistic About U.S. Tax Bill Changes Changes in real estate deductions indicated in the new U.S. tax bill have had many owners and prospective buyers fearful, but some real estate agents and experts believe the impact will be lesser than people are anticipating. Realtor.com estimated only 1.3% of homeowners to be affected. Others say that cuts in income taxes for the wealthy will balance out property taxes for luxury buyers, while still others suggest the changes might lead to people opting for lower tax states. Hong Kong Builders Seek Record Prices in New Year With prices continuing to soar, Hong Kong developers are charging record amounts for new-build homes. Sun Hung Kai Properties announced this week that its St. Barths development will have 353 units at an average price of HK$16,988 (US$2,173) per square foot, nearly 17% higher than secondary deals in the area. Kerry Properties will raise prices for its luxury development in Ho Man Tin by 2% in 2018. This week, the company released 143 units for HK$27,000 (US$3,454) per square foot. November Sales Figures Show More New Builds in England and Wales England and Wales saw an uptick in newly built properties in November, with 13,095 property sales of them, a 5.2% increase on the year prior, according to official property figures. Resales accounted for 106,412, which was up 10.3% on November 2016. The highest sale of the month was a property in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea that went for $17.57 million. PropertyWire

New York Home With Possible Ties to George Washington Sells A Rockland County home, believed to have once served as an office for George Washington and other soldiers during the Revolutionary War, sold for $1.6 million. The 2,400-square-foot, four-bedroom home sits on one acre in the hamlet of Snedens Landing. It was built in the 1780s and its prior owner resided there for sixty years. New York Post
