Chinese Households’ Enthusiasm for Property Investment Hits a 20-Month Low Interest in property investment among urban Chinese households hit a 20-month low in November, according to a new survey from Nielsen and the Bank of Communications, as the property investment index dropped to 109 last month, down from 113 in September. The trend is particularly pronounced among more affluent households, and the bank said in a statement, "Property investment enthusiasm from top urban households was dampened by governmental measures to cool down speculation and the number of rental houses added to supply." Montreal Set a Record for November Condo Sales Montreal saw a 12% overall yearly increase in residential transactions in November, according to the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board, with condo sales up 23% from the previous year. The average sale prices in Greater Montreal rose 6% in the same period, up to C$387,254 (US$300,842). Consumer confidence in the region is also reportedly at a 10-year high. BNN

U.K. Home Price Growth Sees Its First Decline Since July U.K. home prices increased 3.9% year-over-year in November, down from their growth rate of 4.5% in October, according to Halifax, marking the first slowdown in growth since July. Average home prices rose 0.5% month-to-month, up to £226,821 (US$304,351), and quarterly growth rose to 2.4%, up from 2.3% in October. Halifax pointed to continued supply and demand issues, with lower budget buyers unable to find properties and higher-end sellers unable to find buyers. City A.M.

Interest Rate Rise in U.K. Deters People From Climbing Property Ladder Data from eMoov show that 56% of U.K. homeowners between ages 25 and 34 say that the new, higher interest rates have deterred them from moving up the housing ladder. For homeowners of a broader age range, 46% said they would still buy another property, while 17% were put off from selling and 13% putting a pause on plans to buy. In London, 60% of owners said they were currently putting off of purchasing another property. PropertyWire

Two Adjacent Palm Beach, Florida, Lots Sell for $30 Million Two waterfront lots from a larger 2.3-acre Palm Beach, Florida, estate have sold to separate buyers in transactions totaling close to $30 million. The properties are just north of the Palm Beach Country Club, and each lot sold for $14.57 million. One buyer reportedly plans to build a family home on the northern lot, while the buyer of the southern lot is planning construction of a spec house. Palm Beach Daily News
