Edinburgh Has U.K.’s Strongest September for House Prices
House prices increased 6.7% year on year in September in Edinburgh, the highest growth among U.K. cities. The overall growth among major cities was 4.9%, a drop from last year’s 6%. Birmingham, Bournemouth, Leicester and Manchester are among the other high performing cities. Aberdeen was the sole city with declining growth, while Cambridge, Cardiff, London and Oxford all had numbers that fell beneath the rate of inflation.
Tiny Flats Become Popular Among Hong Kong Housing Woes
Rising housing costs in Hong Kong have spurned the creation of nano flats, units smaller than 200-square-feet. (Hong Kong law does not require homes to be a minimum size.) Aimed at younger buyers, 510 of the units will be introduced each year until 2100 primarily in the New Territories.

Today, 15,000 of the apartments exist, with 30,000 more expected within the next five years. Particularly popular amongst those traveling for work and families new to the region, they trade at double the price of non-serviced units.
Kristen Stewart Buys $5.6 Million ‘Fixer-Upper’ in New York
“Twilight” star Kristen Stewart has purchased a three-bedroom, two-bathroom loft in downtown Manhattan for $5.6 million. The apartment, which appears to need a significant amount of updating, was converted into a condo in the 1990s, and Ms. Stewart paid asking price for it.
Turkish Property Sales Soar
The number of residential properties sold in Turkey increased 28.8% year over year in September, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute. A total of 140,298 houses were sold in September, a month-over-month increase of 16.7%. Interestingly, the number of properties sold to foreigners increased 75.2% annually. Of the homes sold to foreigners, about 35.6% were in Istanbul.
