Is Sydney no longer the sexy choice for Chinese buyers?
The Australian reports on new findings from Chinese property portal Juwai.com that show Chinese buyers, in Australia and abroad, are absolutely enamored with Australia’s second most populous city, Melbourne.
Interest in Victoria was up 74 per cent and 92 per cent in Melbourne — both significant increases.
The index, which is considered an accurate indicator of future purchasing trends, also showed Chinese buyers living in China were most interested in Melbourne properties, followed by those based in Australia, the US and Hong Kong.
Henry attributes Melbourne’s positive growth with Chinese property hunters to the Victorian capital’s large number of residential developments, desirable schools and universities and “opportunity to buy luxury trophy homes for prices within Chinese buyers’ budgets.”
