The Hamptons megamansion Beyoncé and Jay Z once rented for a month to the tune of $400,000 is now selling for $49.95 million.
The lavish Bridgehampton estate, dubbed “Sandcastle,” belongs to area developer Joe Farrell—who outfitted the home with over-the-top amenities, including a bowling alley, an indoor basketball court and rock wall. The 11-plus-acre property has yet to hit the public market, but a rep for Mr. Farrell confirmed he’s ready to part with the home.

The luxury behemoth spans 17,000 square feet and has more sleeping accommodations than a bed-and-breakfast, with 15 bedrooms.
Mr. Farrell has rented the mansion on and off since building it in 2008, listing records show. His most famous tenants, pop stars Beyoncé and Jay-Z, moved in for a month during the summer of 2012, sources confirmed.
Before putting it up for sale, Mr. Farrell was asking $1 million to rent this summer, according to listing records.
The home is replete with vacation-oriented amenities, particularly for kids. The lower level has a combination rock wall and mini halfpipe for skateboarding, a DJ booth, virtual golf and bowling alley—for the adults, there’s a full bar and disco, according to a previous rental listing for the home.
The breadth of amenities leaves little reason to step beyond the property line. There’s a squash and racquetball court, a 60-foot pool, home theater and separate pavilion with a billiards room.
When you’re exhausted from all that recreation, the home has its own spa, including a hot tub, sauna and massage area.
Mr. Farrell is selling his home as he has started construction on a new house, a rep confirmed.
It’s not the first time the developer has thought to part with the house. Over the years, he’s dabbled in the market at various price points, listing the home for anywhere between $42.5 million and nearly $60 million, listing records show.
