A historic estate in Dallas, Texas, will hit the market for $18 million this week.

Built in 1941, the 1.62-acre home has two stories of living space featuring three bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, marble flooring and floor-to-ceiling multipane windows.

Property records show the current owners are Judy Austin Neuhoff and Thomas H. Neuhoff, who renovated and enlarged the property in 2005.

Highland Park's first elected mayor, W.O. Connor, bought the house in 1913 and his widow passed down the property to her daughter, Dorothy Connor Austin. It was eventually handed over to Judy Austin Neuhoff and her husband in 2000, according to property records.

The Neuhoff family is a part of Dallas's industrial history and is also known for their philanthropy, which includes the Neuhoff School of Ministry at the University of Dallas and the Catholic Student Community Center at SMU.

The Neuhoffs declined comment.

The property will be listed by Christine McKenny at Allie Beth Allman & Associates. It will hit the market later this week or early next week for $18 million and it will be the first time the house is being offered for sale outside the same family in more than a century, according to Ms. McKenny

"The estate has extreme privacy," she said. " There are really no neighbors surrounding you because the property is surrounded by Turtle Creek."

Traditional in design, the 8,331-square-foot home’s hallmark is the custom-wrought iron balustrade, framing the front entry and veranda, with the same classic architectural motif on the rear balcony, according to Ms. McKenny.

The house’s first floor features a living room with fireplace filled with natural light through floor- to-ceiling multi-pane windows. A paneled den with fireplace is surrounded by shelves, with French doors leading outside. Chevron-pattern hardwood floors emphasize the spatial feeling in the dining room with its natural light and soft-cove lighting, according to Ms. McKenny.

The second level, reachable by elevator, features the master suite, which includes his-and-hers master baths with jet tub, walk-in showers, a makeup area and room-size closets, plus access to the upstairs balcony overlooking the expansive grounds, according to Ms. McKenny. An additional bedroom or second master includes a large sitting area. Two more bedrooms share a Jack-and-Jill bath. An upstairs family room with fireplace can become a bedroom or game room, with adjacent study space.
