A manor house boasting a century of history and picturesque beauty in East Hampton, New York, hit the market for $26.5 million earlier this month.

The 2.4-acre property is located on Further Lane, where the late Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ childhood summer home, "Lasata," sits.  That home was recently rented out to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and his wife, Dasha Zhukova,  and is for sale for $52 million, according to The New York Post.

The classic shingle-style manor house, built circa 1907, encompasses 4,500 square feet of living space, including five bedrooms, six bathrooms and abundant dining and entertaining areas, according to the listing.

Its outdoor landscaping can emulate any park, with English-style gardens, century-old plantings, dozens of specimen trees and sculptures dotting the gated property. There is also a heated 60-foot saltwater pool, a pool house and room for tennis.

The property was once part of the Maidstone Club, a favorite summer retreat for New York’s wealthiest families. The elite private club features both 18-hole and 9-hole golf courses, pool, tennis house and private beachfront.

Previously a residence for a couple of former presidents of the Club, the home was purchased by current owner Joseph Michael Araiz, the chief executive of Further Lane Asset Management LLC, in 1995 for $1.8 million. "The backyard was immense; it reminded me of a place where the Kennedy family would be playing football," Mr. Araiz said.

His family has completely renovated and modernized the house in recent years.

"My favorite good times would include those spent with family and friends. Also, I love that the property is incredible year-round, with the ocean, birds (even wild peacocks!) fireworks, sun and snow," Mr. Araiz said.

The property has been available for rental over the past few years. The reason Mr. Araiz is selling now is because he and his family are looking to downsize, travel more and spend more time at their properties abroad, according to Mr. Araiz.

Yorgos Tsibiridis and Michael Lorber from Douglas Elliman exclusively hold the listing.
