It’s one thing to have a home near a golf course, and it’s another to have a putting green on your property, but what you don’t see every day is a house with one on the roof.

And that’s one of the charms golf lovers will certainly envy at this house on River Cove in Jupiter, Florida, that’s asking $11.9 million.

Built in 2015, this 5,228-square-foot residence is styled after Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous house in the Pennsylvania woods, Fallingwater. Whereas Wright’s classic—an attempt to highlight design while blending into nature—was built on the banks of the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania, this home is on a bit more than an acre on the banks of Florida’s Loxahatchee River. It sits 2.4 nautical miles from the Jupiter Inlet and the Atlantic Ocean.

Doc Ellingson, who has the listing with Sotheby’s International Real Estate, said the seller is a world traveler who had a special vision.

"He bought two half-acre lots on the point of the gated community. Then he sat down with an architect to share his vision and he built the estate," Mr. Ellingson said. Palm Beach County public records show the seller bought the lots in 2012 for a total of  $837,500.

First listed in July, the mansion has an impressive two-story master suite that includes two private patios, a terrace, an office and a hot tub. The 12-foot, floor-to-ceiling windows provide views of the Loxahatchee River and the ocean. And the roof deck includes that putting green. There are a total of four bedrooms, four bathrooms and two half bathrooms.

The clean and sleek kitchen has white counters and dark wood cabinets. The kitchen, dining room and living room all look out on the pool and the river beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows. "The sunrise and sunsets are beautiful. It’s a one of a kind lot," said seller William Burlingham IV.

The grounds include a patio, fire pit, boat and jet ski docks with lifts, a four-season cabana equipped with a wet bar, bathroom and shower, and a multi-purpose studio, air-conditioned, two-car garage and workshop.

"I put a lot of tender loving care into this," Mr. Burlingham said. "I was born in South Florida, but I spent years surfing around the world. I’ve seen a lot of other cultures and styles and brought a lot of those design elements into the house. It’s a fusion between organic and modern."

He said he enjoys snook fishing and pointed out that  the perimeter of the house affords easy access to that sport.
