Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie is ready to move on from his Honolulu, Hawaii, home. He listed it Tuesday with an asking price of $6.25 million.

"A rock star’s dream home," reads the listing for the five-bedroom home close to Diamond Head, an extinct volcano.

Mr. McVie, 71, bought the home under a limited liability company in 2006 for $5 million, property records show. He’s selling to spend more time with his family in Los Angeles, said listing broker Patricia Choi, of Choi International, adding that he will not be maintaining another home on the island.

Built in 1989, the 7,953-square-foot house has vaulted ceilings, five full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, an open floor plan, staff or guest quarters, stone floors, a pool, a three-car garage and views of the ocean and the city. It was remodeled in 1999, according to the listing.

Mr. McVie, who could not be reached for comment, was one of the first members of Fleetwood Mac when the band formed in London in 1967. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 along with other members of the band.

In April, Mr. McVie paid $6.775 million for a four-bedroom home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times first reported the listing.
