"It’s a traditional, stucco-fronted Victorian townhouse," said Keith Rigby of Bective Leslie Marsh. "It’s a great big house."
Buyers, he expect, will most likely be a young family. "The real attraction of this house is that it’s very close to some very good private schools," he said.
The St. Lukes Road house, which was recently used for a Chanel fashion shoot, doubles as Mr. Hodsoll’s showroom, Mr. Rigby said. "He’s not only an interior designer, he also sells antiques."

The designer favors a distressed look, which has turned off some buyers who think the house is rather shabby and needs lots of work, he said. "In fact, it’s all been rewired and replumbed."
"Their taste is an old country house," Mr. Rigby said. "They have quite an eclectic style."
The 1870 house has generously proportioned bedrooms and two large reception rooms. "The owners are great entertainers," he said.
"Realistically, the best thing about this house is the price," Mr. Rigby said. "It comes up to £1,100 to £1,200 per square foot," compared to the £1,400 price of similar nearby properties.

The 3,240-square-foot house has four bedrooms and three full bathrooms.

The house has four fireplaces, a big utility room in the basement and a garden in the backyard. "It’s paved, good for summer entertaining," Mr. Rigby said. "There is also an informal terrace on the roof of the building."
Neighborhood notes
"The house is in what I call the Portobello pocket of Notting Hill," close to the bars, restaurants and shops around Portobello Road and Kensington Park Road, Mr. Rigby said.
