Oil tycoon and financier T. Boone Pickens listed his Dallas mansion Monday with a price tag of $5.99 million.

Mr. Pickens, 89, bought the house in the neighborhood of Old Preston Hollow in 2005, according to property records. Reports suggest he paid around $5 million for the home, although Mansion Global could not confirm the figure.

"My Alva Court property in Dallas is a wonderful home with some incredible neighbors," said Mr. Pickens in a statement to Mansion Global. "But as an 89-year-old single man, I’ve just got too much house on my hands."

Built in 1996, the Mediterranean-style estate sits on a little over an acre and spans 8,906 square feet. It offers "the most exceptional combination of design, construction, materials and location available in Old Preston Hollow," reads the listing with broker Ryan Streiff of Dave Perry Miller Real Estate, who did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the property.

The three-bedroom house has two living areas, two dining rooms, three fireplaces, two master suites and a gym. The three-car garage is topped by guest quarters and outside there are gardens, fountains and a pool.

This is not the home’s first rodeo on the market. In 2013, it was listed for $7 million for about two months, listing records show.

After selling Mesa Petroleum in 1996, Mr. Pickens, who is worth an estimated $500 million according to The New York Times, is now the chairman of BP Capital Management. In June, he filed for divorce from his fifth wife, Toni Chapman Brinker, according to reports.
