Financier’s Miami Penthouse Sold for $26M, Half Its Original Ask

A duplex penthouse in Miami Beach, Florida, owned by Boris Jordan, a media mogul and financier of Russian origin, has sold for $26 million, less than half of its original asking price.

The home, marketed as the only oceanfront full-floor penthouse in South Beach, was first listed for $53 million in December 2015, six months after Mr. Jordan closed on it for $20 million, under the umbrella of a limited liability company, property records show.

Mr. Jordan, 51, founder of the private equity and advisory firm Sputnik Group, who previously was the chief executive of the state-controlled Russian media conglomerate Gazprom-Media as well as head of the Russian television network NTV, bought the penthouse off the floor plan.

Mr. Jordan didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment sent to the Russia-based Sputnik Group.

Last August, Bill Hernandez and Bryan Sereny of Douglas Elliman took over the listing and reduced the price to just below $35 million.

They weren’t immediately available for comment.

The buyer, a limited liability company, was represented by Mick Duchon and Eloy Carmenate, also of Douglas Elliman. They declined to disclose the buyer’s identity, but said the buyer had been shopping around in Miami for a trophy property for the last couple of years.

Once the home’s price was adjusted to correspond to the market value, the buyer jumped at the opportunity, the agents said.

The full-floor penthouse has a 7,000-square-foot interior space, a private 5,223-square-foot roof deck with 36-foot infinity pool, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, and large entertaining space with a dining table that fits about 40 people.

Located on the top floors of a nine-story boutique building, the penthouse enjoys 360-degree ocean and city views.

The sale closed last Friday, but has yet to appear in property records online.
