Fight the Cold with High-Tech Heaters

Toasty technology to take the bite out of chilly weather

Save

We may be done with winter, but winter isn’t done with us.

If you’re looking to combat the cold at home, or beyond, technology can assist in the battle.

Below are devices to keep you warm.

3rd Generation Nest Learning Thermostat

Any home with central heating—which may be the majority of homes—would do well to add Nest to their technological repertoire. Not only will Nest allow you to control your heat from anywhere in the world—ideal for keeping track, temperature-wise, on second homes—but the Nest will "learn" your schedule and understand when you’re away from home, and will adjust your home’s heat accordingly, enabling you to save beaucoup bucks during one of the more costly energy seasons.

The 3rd Generation Nest Learning Thermostat is available for $249.

Crane Infrared smartHeater

Of course not every inch of your estate may feel the warm embrace of central heating. But you can extend that comfort to garages, cellars, converted attics and other spaces with the Crane Infrared smartHeater. This WiFi-connected space heater allows users to raise the temperature of any room even if they’re across the globe via the accompanying Crane mobile app. Equipped with Anti-Freeze Function designed to protect pipes, the smartHeater is ideal for some of the more "under-loved" areas of your home that may require certain temperatures to operate optimally.

The Crane Infrared smartHeater is available for $132.

Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link

A fan for all seasons, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link pulls triple duty and is stylish enough that you won’t mind displaying it all year long. For the colder months, this Dyson provides directed, or diffused, heat and can be controlled on demand or scheduled, via smartphone and voice command. In the summer, the Hot+Cool Link can do the same but with artificial breezes, and throughout the year the device will automatically monitor and purify your room’s air quality.

The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link is available for $599 or $619, depending on finish.

The Multi Peet Dryer

Make journeys out into the frozen wasteland slightly more tolerable with the Multi Peet Dryer. This multi-pronged appliance rapidly dries those accessories that take the brunt of our outdoor winter travels—boots—eliminating the wet and cold and ensuring toasty toes for each new adventure. Better still, the Multi Peet is compatible with a host of other accessories that allow it to quickly dry other outdoor gear including gloves, mittens and helmets.

The Multi Peet Dryer is available for $119.

Ravean

Unfortunately you can’t bring the warming comfort of your home with you when you go outside…or can you? Ravean’s line of men’s and women’s down jackets come with heated back, chest and pocket panels that wrap wearers in a warm embrace. Outfitted with a temperature control button, users can exert multi-zone control over the water-resistant outerwear—allowing you to keep your back warm but chest cool if you so desire. The apparel will also ensure that your smart device will never go cold—each jacket is equipped with a USB outlet and is capable of charging your device four times over.

Ravean heated jackets are available for $169.
