The comedian bought the three-story home in 1994, "when he was newly famous and was starring in ‘Saturday Night Live,’" says the listing with Ann Cutbill Lenane.

Property records from the time don’t disclose how much Mr. Rock, 52, paid for the house while his star was rising, though he did take out two mortgages in the 1990s for about $300,000 each.

Mr. Rock has rented the property out for various rates, ranging from around $8,000 up to $15,000, according to listing records dating back to 2009. The New York Post first reported that the home hit the market.

The three-story carriage house is grand and full of period details dating back to 1901. The home is located the heart of the neighborhood’s historic district, and has original details, including a steep mansard roof, wooden beams, metal work and exposed brick.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home also has a garage, roof deck and garden with a built-in barbecue. Upstairs is a 23-foot-long master suite with skylights, stained-glass windows and a cast iron stove, according to images of the interiors.

A publicist for Mr. Rock did not immediately return a request for comment.
