Cate Blanchett has found a buyer for her waterfront compound in Hunters Hill, Australia—and hopefully this one will stick.

The two-time Oscar winner was burned once before by a buyer who at the last minute reportedly defaulted on a $19.8 million deal to buy her 19th century "Bulwarra" estate.

The listing agent on the property, Ken Jacobs of Christie’s International Real Estate, confirmed the home had recently sold, but told Mansion Global he could not supply further details because of "confidentiality restrictions."

Mr. Jacobs did not disclose the closing price, but it was reportedly on the market for around $20 million.

Ms. Blanchett, who was born in Melbourne, and her husband, Australian playwright and director Andrew Upton, bought the home more than a decade ago for $10 million, according to New South Wales property records. The "Blue Jasmine" actress first put the home on the market in mid-2015.

During their ownership, the couple undertook extensive work on the roughly one-acre property to modernize the historic estate. Designer Nadine Alwill and architect Stephen Lesiuk collaborated on the renovations to create a "tranquil eco-friendly retreat," according to the Christie’s listing.

The five-bedroom main house, a sandstone manor, dates back to 1877 and is in a suburb around 9 kilometers from Sydney’s central business district. The grounds, which include a tennis court, pool and patio, were beautifully landscaped with purple-flowering jacaranda trees. The pool has a quiet studio hidden underneath, the listing says.

Inside the home, a custom steel staircase leads to all three levels of the home and forms the architectural centerpiece of the home, the listing says.

There’s a chef’s grade kitchen with concrete floors and access to the home’s garage. All five bedrooms are on the upper floors, with three leading out onto a veranda overlooking Lane Cove River.  The master suite sits on its own private wing, and has luxurious amenities like a skylit dressing room and river and garden views from the bathtub.

Downstairs, the home has a library with dramatic double-height ceilings.

A publicist for Ms. Blanchett did not immediately return requests for comment.
