There’s plenty of room for display at this four-bedroom, eight-bathroom castle in the Atlanta suburbs.

The almost 10,000-square-foot abode, which will go to auction Sept. 9, has a two-story display room which can house art, photography or whatever other trophies you may have picked up along the way. The reserve price is $1 million, so, depending on how the bidding goes, it could be a sizable discount from the original listing price, $2.49 million.

Built in 1996, the mansion was inspired by the castles of England and Scotland, the home of Sir Walter Scott, circa 1771, among them. The quality of construction stands out for Trayor Lesnock, president of Platinum Luxury Auctions, the Miami-based luxury auction house that is handling the sale.

"It’s very rare to see homes this well-built," he said, noting the use of materials like hand-carved Honduran mahogany, stone and marble.

The main residence, clad in brick, has almost 10,000 square feet of living space. Wood is used throughout the home, which has beamed ceilings and 55 hand-carved doors.

Some materials have been recovered from historic properties in Europe, Mr. Lesnock said, including a castle door, bronze chandeliers and antique fireplaces.

Another highlight is the home’s salon, he said, with its double-height ceilings and windows looking out onto the wooded one-acre estate. It has one of the home’s six fireplaces, inlaid with French marble, and chandeliers imported from Spain, according to the listing.

There’s also a library and dining room, plus a kitchen with a butler’s pantry, lounge and Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, the listing said. There’s also a wine cellar for more than 1,500 bottles, and a fitness center.

A 25-foot stone chimney is at the center of the display room, which has two levels of gallery-like space and a circular walkway on the second floor. It’s currently housing the impressive taxidermy collection of the owner, a big-game hunter, Mr. Lesnock said.

If that’s still not enough space for all your treasures, the media room is also lined with display cases.

Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, which also have wood detailing, plus large windows, French doors and balconies. A soaking tub in the master bath is behind a set of hand-carved doors.

A carriage house on the property has another bedroom and bathroom. The garage is below the carriage house, and has room for five cars, the listing said.

East Cobb is part of Marietta, about 40 miles north of Atlanta, and the area is one of the most affluent suburbs in the area. Missy Elliot, Travis Tritt and Newt Gingrich have all made their homes there, according to the listing. The property itself borders Sope Creek Park and Chattahoochee National Forest.
