Movie mogul Bob Weinstein is selling a sprawling duplex apartment at the stately Beresford building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for the not-for-the-faint-of-heart price of $29.5 million.

Maybe interested buyers should consider themselves lucky, however, since the current price tag is $25,000 less than what he was asking in June 2009. Earlier that year, Mr. Weinstein and his second ex-wife Annie Clayton thought to sell it on the open market for the more robust price tag of $34 million. The co-op’s monthly maintenance fee is $15,209.

The 7,000-square-foot, 14-room duplex on the 16th and 17th floors has five bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms and rooms for staff, according to the listing. The Beresford is a full-service, triple-towered classical-style edifice that faces Central Park and was constructed in 1929.

Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, Diane Sawyer, Kimberly Guilfoyle, John Stossel and financier Vikram Pandit are all current residents of the Emory Roth-designed building, according to Variety, which first reported the listing.

The first floor includes an entry foyer and living room, and library both of which overlook the park and the Museum of Natural History. There is a wet bar and wood-burning fireplace in these rooms as well. An expansive kitchen with a country theme, a formal dining room, den or home office with its own en-suite bathroom complete the floor. A back staircase leads from the kitchen to the laundry room and staff rooms on the floor above.

On the second floor, which can be accessed from an interior grand, curved staircase or from the elevator, there are five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths. Two terraces provide vistas of the north, east and south of the city and a beautiful view of Central Park; a sitting room, staff room with bathroom and laundry as well as two more wood-burning fireplaces are also located on this floor.

The whole apartment has a state-of-the-art automation system as well as three discrete air conditioning zones for efficient cooling.

Mr. Weinstein, 62, who is the co-founder and former co-chairman of Miramax Films, the founder and current head of Dimension Films and co-chairman of The Weinstein company, bought the apartment for $20 million in 2004, public records show. This is also not the only Manhattan property he’s trying to sell. Earlier this year he and his ex-wife listed a 6,608-square-foot townhouse also on the Upper West Side for $19 million.

Mr. Weinsten’s office declined to comment. The broker for the listing did not return a request for comment by publication.
