Music powerhouse Beyoncé Knowles parted with her Midtown Manhattan condo last month for $9.95 million, after city records show that she had bought the Sutton Place unit in 2005 for a little more than $5 million using a limited liability company.

The 2,669-square-foot corner apartment has 11-foot ceilings, three exposures and white oak strip wood floors, according to its listing with Corcoran brokers Deborah Grubman, David M. Adler and Paul Albano, who didn't respond to requests for comment.

It was listed in mid-June, and entered contract just 11 days later, StreetEasy shows. "The first person who saw it was the first person to buy it," said Compass broker Victoria Shtainer, who represented the buyer in the transaction. "We signed a contract within two days."

The deal was both quick and quiet for what Ms. Shtainer described as the "ultimate view apartment." Not even the buyer knew the identity of the home’s owner.

"Everybody deliberately kept it quiet," Ms. Shtainer said, adding that Ms. Knowles hadn’t used it in a very long time.

Ms. Knowles, 36, is married to rapper Jay-Z, but bought this unit before they wed. The power couple, whose representatives did not immediately return requests for comment, have had a busy summer when it comes to their real estate transactions.

According to reports, in August, the pair reportedly paid $88 million for a 30,000-square-foot Los Angeles mansion and earlier this month, they bought a $26 million East Hampton estate.

The New York Post first reported the sale.
