Part of the ancestral home of iconic naturalist documentarian Sir David Attenborough and his late brother, actor Richard Attenborough, is on the market in the U.K., asking £875,000 (US$1.13 million).

Hayden Hall House, in Bushey, Hertfordshire, was acquired by the Attenborough family in the 1870s, according to Savills broker Doug Sleaper. It is believed to have been home to the smooth-voiced brothers in the 1920s and 1930s. It can't be confirmed how long the family lived in the home.

The Grade II-listed property was built before that though—in the 1840s—by one of the leading English architects of the 19th century, Decimus Burton. Mr. Burton was the man behind Hyde Park’s Wellington Arch, along with many structures at the Royal Botanic Gardens and London Zoo.

In the late 1980s, the property and its ancillary buildings were sold and converted into a series of luxury apartments. The owner of this triplex has called it home for the last 30 years, and is a "very sprightly 90 year old," said Mr. Sleaper, adding that the owner is reluctantly realizing that living in a three-floor property isn't the best idea.

The 2,187-square-foot home was listed "a couple of months ago," said Mr. Sleaper and comes with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, high ceilings and sash windows.

"There’s a real sense of grandeur about the principle rooms," Mr. Sleaper said. It is set on roughly 3.5 acres of shared land, including a walled garden.

Despite the celebrity connection, no offers have been made just yet.

"Does it add any value? Probably not. But it's a nice little thought that David might have been in the undergrowth looking at bugs and small mammals," said Mr. Sleaper.

Sir Attenborough, 91, is set to present "Blue Planet II," a new seven-part series, which will be broadcast later this year on the BBC.
