A penthouse at a new Aspen, Colorado, mountainside development has sold for $16 million, according to the developer, setting a unit price record in the city and just in time for ski season.
The penthouse is located on the top floor of Dancing Bear Aspen, a private club that offers 10 residences and the penthouse as part of its new mountainside building.
The penthouse, which closed earlier this month, features four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms with a total of 2,948 square feet of space, according to developer Sunrise Company, who did not reveal the name of the buyer.
The sale, averaging $5,427 per square foot, is a unit-price record setter this year. So far in 2016, the average price per square foot for properties valued at $7.5 million and above in Aspen is about $2,250, according to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, a leading brokerage in the area.
Data provided to Mansion Global by Realtor.com showed that the most expensive property on the market in Aspen is asking $80 million, while a single-family house sold for $24 million in November with an average price per square foot of $2,755.
Although the interior living space isn’t expansive, the penthouse comes with a 3,500-square-foot outdoor space, including one of the largest private rooftop decks in downtown Aspen, according to the developer.
In addition, amenities of the private club include a spa, concierge services, restaurants and bars.
Aspen was recently named one of the top five ski destinations in the world by U.S. News & World Report.
