An owner at Trump Tower who lives only a few floors below President Donald Trump’s penthouse is selling the three-bedroom condo for $18 million.
The unit spanning more than 2,500 square feet on the 61st of the building’s 68 floors is the highest unit currently available in the now heavily guarded glass-clad tower on Fifth Avenue. Owners of this apartment can even enjoy views of Central Park from the en-suite shower, according to the listing, which hit the market on Tuesday with Rana Williams of Keller Williams.
Japanese retail mogul Kesao Fukae, whose Osaka-based company ExcelHuman supplies everything from bed linens to sake, bought the unit for $14.3 million in 2013, according to city property records. Mr. Fukae acquired the home from Mexican telecom billionaire Carlos Peralta Quintero.
An email sent to Mr. Fukae’s company about the sale was not immediately returned.
The condo recently underwent a renovation and offers an open floor plan with marble, stone and wood finishes, according to the listing. Ms. Williams, the seller’s broker, did not immediately return request for comment.
The home has a corner living and dining room space with oversized windows looking out over the city. There’s also a wet bar, open chef’s kitchen and a den that can be used as an office or a third bedroom, according to the listing.
Not that the home was in shambles before Mr. Fukae bought the place. During his ownership, Mr. Peralta Quintero reportedly hired yacht designer Francois Zuretti to do the interiors.
Mr. Trump owns a triplex that spans part of the top three floors, from 66 to 68. Since he assumed office, units at his eponymous tower in Midtown Manhattan have struggled to keep pace with comparable condominiums, an analysis by The Wall Street Journal found.
At the moment, there are 20 apartments for sale in Trump Tower—some of them combinations of multiple units—and two for rent, according to StreetEasy.
