Known for its world-renowned Pinot Noirs, Oregon’s Willamette Valley is home to more than 500 wineries. Nestled in the heart of the fertile valley is a very private 51-acre estate now on the market for $3.888 million.

The sprawling house, built in 1992, sits on a hill, with terrific views of the Cascade Mountains, including the snow-capped tip of the 10,000-foot Mount Jefferson.

"The views are just, just spectacular—you feel like you’re in your own little world," said listing agent Justin Harnish. "It’s very private. You can’t see it from any other vantage point.

"You have the sense of being isolated but you’re 15 to 20 minutes from any service you would want," he said.

The scale is very large, with 16,651 square feet of interior living space. The living room/great room alone is 1,350 square feet. The main-floor master suite is nearly as big, with 1,280 square feet.

"The house is incredibly grand, from the entrance to the long drive to its sitting on top of a knoll looking southwest, which in Oregon is very important, because of the sunlight," Mr. Harnish said.

"The owner is a farmer and they’re very casual people, very simple—and that’s the vibe you get," he said. "A lot of these big houses are gaudy and ostentatious, but this one is very comfortable."

The flow between rooms is particularly good, he said. "It’s a very well thought out home."

Design features include a grand porte cochere at the entrance, media room with a wet bar, hardwood floors, built-in vacuum system, and detailed woodwork throughout the house, including crown molding in many of the rooms.

So far, there are no vineyards on the property, but it certainly has the potential for wine production, Mr. Harnish said. "It definitely has the slope and the exposure. I haven’t had the soil tested yes, but you should be able to grow grapes because of where it is, with wine country all around it."

"I think the buyer will be someone from out of state, who says I want my own little slice of heaven and still not be too far from the rest of the world," he said.

The Stats

The 16,651-square-foot house has five bedrooms, six full bathrooms and four partial bathrooms. It sits on a 51-acre lot.

Amenities

Amenities include five fireplaces, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a tennis court, koi pond, bowling alley, fitness center, and a six-car detached garage.

Neighborhood Notes

The property is surrounded by farms, horse facilities and other large tracts of land, Mr. Harnish said. "It’s hard to call it a neighborhood." Salem, the capital of Oregon, is about 20 to 25 minutes away.
