Located in Sands Point, a tony hamlet on the North Shore of Long Island that reportedly inspired the setting of "The Great Gatsby," this home on Old House Lane is one of the largest certified green homes in the country.
"It has reclaimed water, solar systems, geothermal heating and cooling," said listing agent Shawn Elliott, of Shawn Elliott Luxury Homes and Estates. " These things cost millions to put into the house but do make it eco friendly," he said. Gardens on the roof grow vegetables and also insulate the home to offset heating needs.
Built in 2014 by the architecture firm Narofsky Architecture with the intent of housing three generations of a family, two wings fan off of a large, multipurpose living room.
It was originally listed for $38 million in 2015 by the owner, technology executive Sonny Chabra.

Celebrity Cachet
The home’s futuristic aesthetic and impeccable grounds have made it a popular location for film and TV shoots. NBC’s "The Blacklist" landed a helicopter on the lawn for an episode while a pivotal pool party scene in season two of Showtime’s "The Affair" was shot there. "We had 300 people in that house," Mr. Elliott said of the filming.
Recently, rapper Two Chainz filmed a music video there.

Being in Sands Point, where the population is under 3,000 and former residents include William Randolph Hearst and New York Governor Averell Harriman, has definite advantages.
You become a member of the Sands Point Golf Course automatically by living in Sands Point," Mr. Elliott said. "It’s unbelievable...if you were not living in Sands Point you would have to spend $30,000 a year to be a member."
Though, with a green on the property, the future owner can get their golf fix without even leaving home.
