Location: Palm Springs, California

Price: $2.95 million

A new wave of luxury development in Palm Springs is paying homage to the city’s reputation as a mecca for mid-century modern architecture.

One interesting development coming onto the scene there is called Linea, a gated community of 14 all-white modern homes with four different floor plans and prices starting at $2.5 million.

"Five of the homes have been built and three of the five have sold to date," said agent Rich Nolan of The Agency Palm Springs. "We plan to have all homes sold and completed by the end of 2018."

This four-bedroom home, which has the sought-after L floor plan, came on the market in late August and has drawn lots of favorable attention, Mr. Nolan said, noting that its "modern blend of minimal lines and walls of glass—it really is breathtaking."

"Ithas unobstructed west-facing mountain views," he said. "It really captures your attention when you walk in the front door."

Plus, he said, "It’s on one of our premium lots and also is our very last available L plan."

Linea is being developed by Alta Verde Groupwith designs by Andrew Adler and architecture by Anthony Poon. "We like to think of Linea as‘new century modern,’" he said.

"Right now we are seeing a lot of international buyers, specifically from the United Kingdom and Canada," Mr. Nolan said. "Linea is for the buyer who wants architecture and privacy without the L.A. traffic."

And the Linea homes, though pricey, are a bargain compared to Los Angeles, he said. "If Linea was located in say the highly coveted Bird Streets (neighborhood) of L.A., if would be north of $7 million without factoring in the lot size."

The stats

The 4,821-square-foot house has four bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one partial bathroom. It sits on a 19,259-square-foot lot.

Neighborhood Notes

"The location sits against the San Jacinto Mountains in the spectacular Indian Canyons area," Mr. Nolan said. "The views can't be duplicated."

The surrounding Coachella Valley offers hiking, biking and horseback riding trails, he said, and the Palm Springs Airport is just 10 minutes away.
