British-American actor Alfred Molina sold his four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in Los Angeles last week for $2.8 million.

The 4,420-square-foot abode in the leafy Sunset Square neighborhood was listed in August for $2.95 million. He and his longtime wife, actress and novelist Jill Gascoine, bought the home in 1995 for $565,000, according to public records. The sale was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Guests and residents enter the home into a large living room with a fireplace, with an adjacent library lined with built-in shelves, according to the listing. An Italian-style kitchen has stainless steel appliances and an open dining room. There’s also a den on the main floor, plus a sunroom.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets, the listing said. The master bedroom features a large dressing room and a soaking tub.

There’s plenty of outdoor space, too, with balconies on the upper floor that look over the home’s gardens. Outside there’s a stone patio, surrounded by drought-resistant landscaping, the listing said.

A guest house offers additional space, including a garage, office and upstairs suite with a full bath and terrace, according to the listing.

Mr. Molina, 64, has a range of film credits going back decades, including "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981), "Spider-Man 2" (2004) and "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" (2016). He is currently appearing on the television series "Angie Tribeca" as Dr. Edelweiss. He was not immediately available for comment.

He and Ms. Gascoine bought a new place this summer in the town of La Canada Flintridge, according to the L.A. Times. The couple bought the 3,400-square foot home, which is about 20 minutes north of L.A., for $2.75 million.
