Location: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Price: $2.7 million

Three years after suffering major devastation from Hurricane Odile, the luxury resort market on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula has come back to life.

New resorts are being built and most of the damaged properties have been renovated and rebuilt.

The storm "gave a lot of resorts the chance to take advantage of the insurance money and rebuild, so it’s better than ever now," said Susan Jeffas, the broker for Chileno Bay Resort & Residences in Cabo San Lucas

"We were not vertical at the time of Odile, so luckily we didn’t suffer any physical damage," she said.

The beachfront Chileno Bay Resort & Residences opened in February 2017 as a 29-room luxury hotel, operated by Auberge Resorts, and a residential villa community with 33 contemporary two-, three- and four-bedroom villas. Work has now begun on Phase Two of development after 90% of the Phase One villas were sold or under contract before opening day.

The $2.7 million Pacifico 2 is part of Phase 2, one of 22 four-bedroom villas that will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2018. Construction began two months ago.

This first-floor villa has two ocean-facing master bedrooms in the front and two more bedrooms in the back of the unit. Both of the masters have outdoor showers.

"All of the villas have generous terraces with outdoor kitchens that have a Wolf and Sub-Zero cooking center," Ms. Jeffas said.

Pacifico 2 has ocean views and its own private pool, "an attractive feature for many of our buyers, especially ones with kids," Ms. Jeffas said.

The kitchen, which has granite countertops and Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and living areas have an open floor plan, "situated to be one great space,"Ms. Jeffas said.

Architectural and design details include sliding-glass doors to outdoor areas, African teak ceilings, Italian marble floors throughout, and oversized bathrooms with soaking tubs.

An added bonus: "We have near-perfect weather year-round—it’s almost always 80 degrees," Ms. Jeffas said. "We have no more than 15 days of rain a year."

Nestled in the protective cove of Chileno Bay, the property includes a three-tiered infinity swimming pool with an oceanfront hot tub and fire pits, a Tom Fazio-designed golf course, extensive spa, fitness center and movement studio, a kids’ club, owners’ lounge, and a waterfront sports center.

"Arguably it has the best swimmable beach in all of Cabo," Ms. Jeffas said.

Neighborhood Notes

The villa sits between the resort cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, and it’s just a 10- to 15-minute drive to either community, Ms. Jeffas said. Cabo San Lucas is known for its restaurants and lively nightlife.
