Location: Kensington, London

Price: £7.95 million (US $10.5 million)

Nestled between Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, this standalone home with a stucco facade is in a prime location for a London-based family.

"It’s very rare to find a fully detached home in this area," said agent Jake Russell of the London-based brokerage Russell Simpson. Most houses here share at least one wall with another family.

The size of the home is another plus. "The housing stock in London in really nice areas is fairly skinny and very tall. This is unusually wide," he said.

That translates into a large reception room beyond the entry hall on the main floor, which has raised ceilings and large windows to maximize light. There is a study with a bay window and built-in shelving at the front of the house, according to the listing, and a drawing room with a balcony in the rear. The main floor also has a power room.

On the lower ground floor, the open-floor plan encompasses the kitchen, plus a breakfast room and lounge area. Custom-made in the U.K., the kitchen has bespoke cabinetry and stainless steel appliances, as well as access to the garden. There’s a powder room on that floor as well, plus a utility room.

The master suite takes up the second floor, and there are three bedrooms on the third floor, plus a fifth in the basement. All five bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.

Stats

This home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, plus two powder rooms, spread over about 4,000 square feet.

Amenities

Because the home shares no walls with its neighbors, it has an extra level of privacy. Encompassing five floors, the home allows for a family to spread out, both inside and out. That includes a solarium to enjoy sunny days on the lower ground, as per the listing, plus a west-facing garden with a patio.

Two of the home’s bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms outfitted in Italian marble. The master bedroom also has a separate shower room, plus a walk-in closet, according to the listing, as well as two terraces.

The basement bedroom would be a perfect place to set up a playroom or fitness center, according to the listing, or could serve as a separate living area for staff.

In addition, there’s a parking spot on the lot, "which is very unusual at this price range," Mr. Russell said.

Neighborhood notes

Families can enjoy outdoor activities at both Holland Park, a small park next to London’s Design Museum, and Kensington Gardens, which is where Prince William and his family make their home at Kensington Palace.

Hornton Street is close to both Kensington High Street and Notting Hill Gate, which are both main thoroughfares with numerous shopping and restaurant opportunities.
