Listing of the Day

Location: Hampstead, London

Price: £22.5 million (US$29.5 million)

Ultra-modern minimalism meets old English charm at this newly renovated, five-floor home.

Completed earlier this year, the abode was built with state-of-the-art luxury living in mind. But its brick exterior and garden, plus its location in the historic Hampstead neighborhood, make it a unique city retreat.

The renovation was "almost from scratch," although some of the original facade is part of the new design, said listing broker Rosy Khalastchy of Beauchamp Estates, a London-based real estate firm.

The result is a home with a warm, neutral palate and an open layout, Ms. Khalastchy said, which gives it a timeless quality. Materials like imported stone and wood have been used throughout the levels.

Just off the foyer, residents could entertain a few—or a few dozen—friends in the large reception area, which has a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows, she said. The dining room is on the lower ground floor, as is a chef’s kitchen with a breakfast bar.

Upstairs is the master suite, with two balconies overlooking the garden and with views of the town and sunset, according to the listing. The bathroom has dual vanities and a soaking tub. There are three other bedrooms and a central bathroom on the second floor as well.

The top floor has another bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony, plus access to a roof terrace.

Stats

This five-bedroom, five-bathroom home is 7,940 square feet.

Amenities

There’s plenty of room to entertain outside, as well. The outdoor terrace lends itself to seasonal dining, and there are beautifully landscaped gardens. A sunroom allows space for plants (and people) to flourish inside.

The basement is a fitness buff’s dream, and includes an indoor swimming pool, steam room, spa and gym.

The home also has a cinema and game room, plus an elevator reaches all levels of the house. There’s also a two-car garage.

Design pedigree

Claudio Silvestrin, a British-based architect known for minimalistic work, designed the house. The owners have been working on it for five years, planning to sell or rent it when it was completed.

The gardens were created by Chris Beardshaw, best known for his work on BBC’s "Gardener’s World."

Neighborhood notes

"The location is fantastic," Ms. Khalastchy said. "It’s very close to central Hampstead, which is known as a artistic, creative kind of area. And it’s charming and old."

The home is adjacent to Hampstead Heath, a large park, and there are several good schools in the area. The tube station is less than 10 minutes away by foot.
