The Forest Hill section of Toronto is one of the city’s most prestigious and affluent neighborhoods, with luxurious housing stock, both old and new, and schools that are among the best in the country.
A rare estate-sized lot, with a sprawling steel-frame and concrete mansion clad in Indiana limestone, is now on the market.
"It’s in the best part of Forest Hill," said Elise Kalles of Harvey Kalles Real Estate. "The lot is 90-foot frontage, which is very unusual. It’s like a double lot."
"It’s spectacular, the moment you walk in," Ms. Kalles said. "You couldn’t duplicate it. It’s one of the most magnificent homes I’ve ever seen and I’ve been selling luxury real estate for close to 40 years."

The owners "used the best finishes, the best materials, the top decorators," she said. "Everybody had carte blanche."
Architectural details include several sets of French doors that open to garden areas, 21-foot ceilings in the foyer, a two-story library with a spiral staircase, and wall-to-wall bay windows that bring in lots of natural light.
Finishes and materials include black granite counters, cream marble slab tile with cream marble inlay, herringbone smoked gray stained oak floors, recessed halogen lights, vintage light fixtures, reflective wall treatments and lacquered doors.
"The owners have excellent taste and they were very much involved with the decorators," Ms. Kalles said.
The ultramodern kitchen has a separate eating area and appliances by Gaggenau, Miele, Thermador, and Fisher & Paykel.

Neighborhood Notes
This is one of the best streets in Forest Hill, Ms. Kalles said. "You have the proximity to downtown and ... walking distance to the best private schools in Forest Hill."
It’s about a 15-minute walk to Bloor Street, "which is as nice or nicer than Fifth Avenue in New York. Hermes, Gucci, Chanel–they’re all on Bloor Street," she said.
