Location: Patagonia, Chile Price: $10.9 million

If there’s ever a place and property to lust over, this is it. Wild, barren, and beautiful, Patagonia’s landscape is like nothing else in the world. Add in a ready-to-go luxury retreat—named The Cliffs Preserve—and you’re just a contract away from the vacation of a lifetime.

Its location, along the Pacific coast of Northern Patagonia, "lies roughly two- thirds of the way between Chile’s capital of Santiago and Cape Horn, and just north of the island of Chiloé," said listing agent Yolanda Tejeda de Walker of Chile Sotheby's International Realty. "The closest airport is El Tepual International in Puerto Montt, approximately 70 minutes away. Most international flights to Chile arrive in the early morning, then several flights connect Santiago with Puerto Montt," she said.

At the end of the journey, you’re greeted with a turnkey estate, purchased by the Cliffs Group in 2000. They developed the complex alongside architects Luis Quiroz and Mario De Marta, who took inspiration from the German Colonial influences in the area. The result is a design-forward retreat in an awe-inspiring land teeming with natural beauty.

The Stats

The numbers here are staggering. The property sits on 8,000 acres of pristine land, 13 of which front the Pacific Ocean. There’s a main lodge that resides on one of the property’s three beaches, and inside, there’s 10,000-square-feet of amenities: a catering kitchen, a spa, a gym, a mediation room, and a heated pool. For your guests, there are six additional private villas, with a total of 18 en suite bedrooms between them. They range from 2,700-5,000 square feet. The property also has stables, a marina, an organic garden, and housing for staff.

Amenities

"This private 8,000-acre preserve features a collection of rustically elegant villas containing independent suites," said Ms. de Walker, "with such thoughtful appointments as porches, whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, state-of-the-art sound systems, and wood-fired hot tubs." Each suite showcases a view from every angle and they’re finished with materials traditional to the area, like slate, copper, and native woods.

"The expansive lodge located on the preserve's primary beach boasts lofty public spaces, intimate bars, and an area for outdoor barbecues," she added. "The second floor is home to the preserve's wellness spa, a truly soothing environment."

Neighborhood Notes

Sure, it’s not a neighborhood like the kind we think of, but you will have neighbors here at The Cliffs Preserve. "Lush trails wind through leafy forests, pristine beaches, and open meadows," said Ms. de Walker, and along the way keep an eye out for pudú, the smallest deer in the world, monkeys, and dozens of bird species. Look to the ocean for some of the world’s most spectacular creatures. The king of the ocean is, of course, the blue whale, the largest mammal in the world, but there’s also penguins, sea lions and dolphins.
