Listing of the Day
Location Westminster, London
Price £4.975 million (US$6.665 million)
This quintessentially English Victorian mansion may be a grand, old red-brick period building set in a historic part of London, sandwiched between Westminster Cathedral and Buckingham Palace, but inside, Artillery Mansions’ penthouse is ultra-modern in both design and function.
Refurbished over the past 18 months, the duplex, across the 11th and 12th floors, is being sold by the developer. All furniture and fittings are bespoke, and all technology controlled by a Crestron audio visual system, via iPad, including air conditioning and surround sound in the main reception room, which turns it into a home cinema.
"The penthouse has been designed for someone who wants to pick up their suitcases and move straight in," said Shereen Malik, of U.K. Sotheby’s International Realty, who believes it would make an ideal pied a terre, or somewhere that could work for families who want to be a short hop from some of London’s best schools. The block is very family friendly with apartments owned by those with children, often as a second or third home.
There is a large terrace on each floor of the building with views across iconic parts of London’s skyline, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.

Stats
Set over 2,357 square feet, the duplex penthouse has three bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, plus a separate guest cloakroom.
Amenities
Unusually for a refurbished apartment in central London, buyers will get two parking spaces in the block’s underground car park.
Artillery Mansions has a 24-hour porter and concierge and a luxurious communal area, which has just been revamped in the last couple of months.
Design pedigree
The developers have designed the apartment to appeal to high-end buyers, with top-quality materials such as a pure silk carpet and American walnut flooring, staircase and bespoke wardrobes. There’s marble throughout the bathrooms and kitchen—a marble breakfast bar, worktop and backsplash—and a bespoke stone kitchen floor. Appliances are Miele.
All movable furniture, such as sofas, can be bought with the apartment by separate negotiation.

Neighborhood Notes
Victoria Street is on the doorstep of Belgravia but is in a traditionally more affordable part of central London. Ms. Malik believes the apartment has strong investment potential, with much development happening near Victoria Station. Land Securities, the main landowner in Victoria, is leading a £4 billion (US$5 billion) overhaul of the area, and new restaurants, bars and shops are popping up constantly.
Over the past year, sold-property prices in the area rose by 17%, according to property website Rightmove.
Artillery Mansions is just 0.2 miles from St. James Park underground station and 0.3 miles from Victoria underground station.
