Listing of the Day
Location: Maui, Hawaii
Price: $4.695 million
This three-bedroom apartment was part of a major renovation of Maui’s Montage Kapalua Bay resort in 2014, which cost a reported $15 million.
The verdant land, where the resort and residences stand, was once used as a plantation.
“The area is steeped in history,” said Tina Necrason, senior vice president of residential for Montage International, the company that operates the residences.
Everything at the resort is geared toward families, she said, citing the hotel’s wide array of cultural activities that make residents and guests feel “a part of the [island] community.” Whether it’s making leis with the resort’s cultural ambassador, touring the island’s historical museums, or learning to hula and play ukulele, the resort offers many opportunities to experience the island culture.
Summing up the resort’s atmosphere, Ms. Necrason said Montage Kapalua Bay is best described as “relaxed ultra-luxury.”
The residence’s interior has an open layout designed to naturally incorporate a view of the palm- strewn coastline. “Everything really flows seamlessly from the indoors to the outdoors,” Ms. Necrason said of the sixth-floor residence, which offers views of Kapalua’s coastline, Molokai, and Maui’s sunset from its own 628 square-foot lanai (or porch).
Completely turnkey, the residence also includes furnishings provided by Bassman and Blaine Interiors. Relaxed wicker furniture provides a beachside feel from the privacy of the residence’s lanai, while textured wood pieces, such as a petrified wood side table, remind the homeowner of the lush natural landscape just beyond their doorstep.
An outdoor barbecue and a large indoor kitchen island offer ample opportunity to bring the outdoor cookout inside.

The 3,417-square-foot residence has three full-bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one half-bathroom.
As a part of the Montage resort, the owners have access to a wide variety of amenities that can typically only be found in a luxury resort: a dedicated staff, a state-of-the-art gym, a pool, a spa with both steam and Hawaiian-inspired treatments, an Asian-influenced fine-dining restaurant with locally sourced ingredients, and an array of Hawaiian-themed activities designed for kids and two golf courses.
The property boasts two professional-level golf courses, which have been host to numerous championship games. The Plantation Course has been named one of the best courses in the world from numerous golf publications, while the Bay Course has hosted over 20 PGA and LPGA tournaments since opening in 1975.
