Listing of the Day

Location: Wellington, Florida Price: $25 million

At the 80-acre Windsome Farms, the number of accommodations for horses far outstrips those for its two-legged occupants. That’s not surprising in Wellington, Florida.

"It’s the horse capital of the world," said listing agent Marley Overman of Illustrated Properties/Palm Beach. Every winter, 20,000 to 25,000 people arrive in Wellington to train and compete in polo, jumping and dressage events "to gain points [for World Cup and Olympic team qualifiers], success and recognition," she said.

In addition to 52 horse stalls, the property has two one-bedroom apartments, a Grand Prix field with natural jumps and hills, "good for horse muscles," three training rings and an Olympic pedigree. "This facility is used to train. We’ve had numerous Olympians train and stay at the property," Ms. Overman said.

The owners no longer use the property and have wanted to sell it for some time, the agent said. The property has been on and off the market over the years, with a listing price as high as $62 million 2009, according to the listing. It last listed in 2014, for $34.8 million.

Now at $25 million, "it’s priced really right for the acreage and where it’s located," Ms. Overman said.

Stats

The H-formation barn offers 4,624 square feet of livable space. The two one-bedroom apartments—both with a kitchen, bathroom and living room—are upstairs. Downstairs, are an owner’s lounge with kitchenette and full bath as well as a riders lounge with kitchenette and half bath. Five other half baths are elsewhere.

AmenitiesThere are three training rings, 16 grooming stalls, six washing stalls, a tack room, a bridle path that surrounds the property, and four lakes on the property, all man-made and stocked with fish.

Talking points

Not only do Olympic hopefuls and their horses train at the facility, Ms. Overman said, but the property owner’s horse also won an Olympic medal in show jumping at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. The horse was stabled at the property when it was built in 1995, she said.

Neighborhood notes

Wellington is about 15 miles west of West Palm Beach. The property is near the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, International Polo Club and Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. "You can’t find 80 acres this close to the equestrian venues for sale," Ms. Overman said.
