The last remaining unit within The Light House, a luxury four-unit condominium converted from a century-old San Francisco church, is on the market for $6.149 million after being rented for as much as $28,000 a month.
The three-level 5,075-square-foot home located in the historic Dolores Heights/Mission Dolores neighborhood, has four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, an open chef’s kitchen, a den and a media room. The interior features polished cement floors, exposed brick, steel beams, as well as original and repurposed woodwork, according to the listing. The unit went on the market in November.
“When you walk into the great room, you can see the stunning space with soaring 30-foot ceilings and 75-foot width that’s the same width as the whole building,” said Marcus Miller, who is co-listing the property with John Woodruff III from the same brokerage, Hill & Co. Real Estate.
The home is one of four one-of-a-kind residences converted from the former Second Church of Christ, Scientist. The Neoclassical-style church, designed by famed San Francisco architect William H. Crim in 1905, was sold to its current owner, Siamak Akhavan, in 2011.
The seismic engineer-turned-developer spent four years designing, restoring and upgrading the old building into four distinctive homes. “It’s a brilliant repurposing of the building in an urban area, the delivered finishes are just amazing,” said Mr. Miller.
One of the units sold for $6.495 million in April 2016 and another for $6.1 million in August this year. Mr. Akhavan presently lives in the penthouse, which was converted from the dome of the church.
The last remaining unit available comes with a parking lot large enough for two small cars (a rarity in San Francisco). Other shared amenities at The Light House include a Zen garden, bicycle parking and easy access to Dolores Park, which is right across the street.
