Location: Boston, Massachussetts
Price: $2.995 million
This sprawling unit at the Boston Four Seasons Residences lies right in the center of the city, which happens to be one of only 10 in the world that can support two Four Seasons locations. Its owner, Jim Richardson, is a world-renowned sailor and a three-time Rolex Farr 40 Yachting Champion. The second bedroom in the unit, which also functions as a living space/study, currently houses Jim’s impressive array of awards and trophies.
The unit offers city views from the 11th floor of the building, and is located right on the Boston Public Garden.
The elegant yet bright and colorful apartment, with its bold colors and antique and custom furnishings, was designed in part by a 95-year-old London antique shop owner, Kenneth Neame, who has also helped Mr. Richardson in designing a flat in London as well as a 10-bedroom house in Rhode Island.
Mr. Neame, who according to Mr. Richardson, “doesn’t miss any tricks,” has been trading antiques and designing for over 70 years. “Kenneth is larger than life. He has remarkable taste and an eye for detail,” Mr. Richardson said.
This two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit is 1,821 square feet, and includes a master bedroom, spa-like master bathroom, and expansive living and entertaining area.
The Four Seasons Residences offer the opportunity to live the hotel experience. Residents have access to concierge services, room service, cleaning services, a pool, gym and health spa, as well as a valet garage parking space and storage.
Mr. Richardson, as well as the property’s agent, Michael Carucci, who also lives in the building, gushed about the impeccable service. “The people who work here have become family over the years,” Mr. Richardson said.
Mr. Richardson has won so many races, including three world championships and a couple of North American championships, that he has amassed 11 Rolex watches (a Rolex being the typical first prize for sailing championships). And, according to Mr. Richardson, for every Rolex he’s won, he’s gifted another 13 to his crew.
Mr. Richardson, who shares the unit with his yellow lab, Margot, boasts of the building’s proximity to the Boston Public Garden—an ideal spot for dog owners.
