Location: Little Witcombe, Gloucestershire, England

Price: £1.1 million (US$1.4 million)

The Rolling Stones have stayed in many exclusive hotels during their five-decade long career. But in the band’s heyday in the 1960s, they used this house in the Cotswolds as a stopover before playing concerts nearby.

The English rock band, which formed in 1962, stayed at the house before they performed two shows at the Odeon Theatre, in nearby Cheltenham, in February 1964. They were invited by then-owner Kerry Hamer, a good friend of the late Rolling Stones founder and original leader Brian Jones, who was from Cheltenham.

The story is very well-known in the hamlet of Little Witcombe, said listing agent Alex Holmes, of Humberts estate agency in Cirencester. "Everyone knows about it, even the postman says it happened." It is thought that the previous owner bought the property from Mr. Hamer and they sold it to the current owners who have lived in the house for more than 40 years.

Along with its rock ‘n’ roll heritage, the stone-built property is in a beautiful rural spot. It is surrounded by the undulating green landscape of the Cotswolds, has views from everywhere and is set on 1.6 acres of gardens.

Positioned moments from the main street in the hamlet, the house is approached via a sweeping gravel drive with a turning circle and is surrounded by garden.

Inside, there’s a classic 1960s look, with wide picture windows, an open-tread mahogany staircase and a full-length stone fireplace. The windows offer views of the surrounding countryside, including Cooper’s Hill, which hosts an annual cheese-rolling event each spring that attracts people from all over world.

It’s a great family house with a spacious floor plan and outstanding rural views, Mr. Holmes said, and the large garden provides a safe and secure environment for children.
