Located just off the west coast of Florida in the secluded island community of Boca Grande, the property was extensively renovated and redesigned by current homeowners Bob and Myriam Knutson, who said they essentially rebuilt the entire residence to their specifications.
"We didn’t expect to sell quite so soon," Mrs. Knutson said, noting that their efforts paid-off with this "exceedingly well built" home.
Today, their work can be seen in both the home’s subtle exterior and refined interior, as well as intelligent design features that effectively respond to the region’s occasionally temperamental weather.

Although they say the sea has never reached the home while they’ve lived in the home—which they bought in 2004—the Knutsons noted the residence’s close proximity to the ocean factored into its design. The main living quarters are located on the upper floors to protect them from potential flooding, the home’s man windows are constructed to comfortably withstand high-powered winds.
"The wind could be roaring outside and you’d hear nothing inside," Mr. Knutson said.
The residence’s white exterior has pale blue roofing, row-upon-row of windows and geometric railings that grace the residence’s stairs and balconies.
Tasteful details inside include polished wood flooring in a zigzag pattern and tonally muted walls bordered by white crown molding that are brightened by the natural light that filters through the home’s large windows.
The residence’s inner court is constructed of reclaimed brick and modeled after a Balinese courtyard with a central pool bordered by ivy-wrapped palm trees and capped by an ornate stone fountain.

Neighborhood Notes
Just off the coast of Southwest Florida, Boca Grande is a small secluded community located on Gasparilla Island. Known for its pristine beaches, azure waters and world-renowned tarpon fishing, the community is also home to many influential residents hoping to escape the limelight. The Knutsons noted that members of the Bush family, high-profile CEOs and the occasional celebrity can be spotted on the island, though often with a degree of anonymity they are aren’t afforded in the outside world.
However, despite its seclusion, the island still provides plenty of social activities, with country clubs, golf courses, numerous political and cultural events, and its historic downtown district.
